Graduate Student I received my B.A. from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in Psychology with a minor in Anthropology. Having always been drawn to group relations and psychology, I moved back to Chicago and began working with ethnically diverse, menatlly ill populations. Seeing how prevalent ethnic stereotypes and stigma were and how they affected their progress inspired me to broaden my scope and sparked the desire to examine how immigrants are affected by similar prejudices. While my interests in the field are vast, I am particularly interested in examining how group relations play out among Latin-American immigrants and first generation Latinos. I believe this to be important at this time given the increasing backlash surrounding illegal immigration and the growing influx of Latino immigrants to the United States. |
